An 8CAV screw cap mould is used when threaded lids or caps need stable sealing performance at high output. For packaging buyers, the most important questions are whether the thread fits the matching cup or container, whether torque stays consistent, and whether the mould can hold quality across long production runs.
Eight-cavity tooling can improve output, but threaded closures are less forgiving than simple flat lids. Thread profile, shrinkage, cooling, unscrewing or ejection method, gate location and material choice all affect whether the cap seals smoothly without cracking, flash or difficult rotation.
A screw cap mould project should start with the complete closure system. Buyers should provide the cap drawing, matching cup or container drawing, thread standard, sealing surface, expected opening torque, material grade and any tamper or liner requirements.
If the cap and container are developed separately, small dimensional mismatches can create leaks, weak sealing or poor consumer feel. A mould supplier should review both sides of the assembly before confirming cavity count, steel choice or runner layout.
Hot runner choice, cooling balance and gate position have a direct impact on cap roundness and thread accuracy. Uneven cooling can distort the thread profile, while poor venting can create burn marks or short shots in detailed thread areas.
The release method also matters. Some threaded caps can be stripped from the core, while others need a more controlled unscrewing or collapsible-core approach. The right choice depends on thread depth, material flexibility, cap wall thickness and the acceptable level of stress after ejection.
During mould trials, inspect every cavity for cap weight, thread definition, flash, roundness, sealing surface quality, torque range and fit on the matching container. Test caps after cooling, not only immediately after molding, because shrinkage can change fit and torque.
Buyers should also run drop, leak, stacking and packing checks if the cap will be used in food, condiment, cosmetic or sample packaging. These tests help confirm that the cap performs in logistics as well as at the injection machine.
A strong RFQ includes cap and container drawings, target material, cavity count preference, machine model, cycle target, annual volume, thread tolerance, gate appearance requirement, packaging method and sample acceptance standard. Photos or physical samples of the matching container are also helpful.
For a multi-cavity screw cap mould, the best supplier response should explain how thread accuracy, cooling, venting, release, spare parts and trial validation will be handled. That gives buyers a clearer basis for comparing tooling proposals beyond price.
Provide the cap drawing, matching cup or container drawing, thread standard, resin grade, sealing surface details, expected torque range, machine model, and target cavity count.
The release method depends on thread depth, resin flexibility, wall thickness, acceptable stress marks, and sealing tolerance. The mould maker should review the cap design before choosing stripping, unscrewing, or another release structure.
Check every cavity for cap weight, thread definition, roundness, flash, sealing surface quality, torque range, fit on the matching container, leak resistance, and cycle stability after cooling.
